General Manager

John D. Brantley serves as the General Manager for IBM’s Global Chemicals & Petroleum Industry, since his appointment in 2005. In this role, Brantley is responsible for IBM’s overall revenue, profit, strategy and solution development for the chemical and petroleum industries worldwide.

In addition to his current GM responsibilities, Brantley was appointed in 2008 to the IBM Integration & Value Team, a 300 person executive team that works to advance IBM’s growth agenda by addressing important cross-company integration challenges.

Brantley brings more than two decades of experience to IBM since he began his career with the company in 1982. He has held such positions and most recently served as Vice President, Worldwide BladeCenter Sales, Systems Group, where he grew the worldwide BladeCenter sales through IBM’s direct sales force, business partners and alliance partners; Vice President, IBM Direct Sales, IBM.com, Americas; and Vice President, Americas Integrated Marketing Communications.

Brantley has a B.A. in business administration from the University of New Hampshire and a M.B.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology.
